Why do I need a driving licence to sell my car on Car-Ma?
Driving licence requirements for vehicle sale
To facilitate the sale of your vehicle, we require a clear copy of your driving licence for the following purposes:
- Verify your identity
- Validate the sale of your vehicle
Accepted licences:
- Driving licences from any country are acceptable.
- Provisional licences are also valid forms of ID.
When to upload your driving licence:
- While your vehicle is in daily sale: Uploading your licence at this stage saves time once a deal is agreed upon.
- On the day of collection: This is necessary to prove your identity to the buyer.
Important information:
- Ensure that the name and address on your driving licence match those on the V5C logbook.
- If there’s a mismatch, provide an additional proof of address document that matches either the driving licence or the V5C logbook.
Acceptable proof of address documents include:
- Utility bill
- Council tax bill
- Letter from HMRC
- Bank statement (dated within the last 3 months)
If you don’t have a driving licence or it has expired:
- We can accept an alternative document to verify your identity, typically a passport.
