Can I sell a car on behalf of someone else with Car-ma ?

Yes but you'll need the below information...

Additional documents required for vehicle sale

To ensure the sale is authorised correctly, we need some extra documents. Once these are uploaded and verified by Car-Ma’s Documents Team, you (the registered keeper) can be set up as the payee for the vehicle sale.

Please note: We cannot complete your sale without these documents.

Required documents

  1. Letter of authorisation

  2. Photo of registered owner’s driving licence

    • An alternative form of photographic ID, such as a passport, is also acceptable.
  3. Proof of address

    • This should accompany the ID and can include:
      • Utility bill
      • Council tax bill
      • Letter from HMRC
      • Bank statement (dated within the last 3 months)

Important: Without this documentation, the registered keeper cannot receive payment for the vehicle.

Special cases

  • Selling a company vehicle:

    • We require a signed letter of authorisation and a form of ID from a company director.
  • Selling on probate:

    • If you're selling on behalf of someone who has passed away, our Documents Team can assist you. Call them at 0203 885 9291 or refer to our FAQ: Can I sell a vehicle on probate?

Where to upload your documents

You can upload all required documents to your Car-Ma profile. If you experience difficulties, please email copies to documents@car-ma.co.uk along with your vehicle’s registration number.
